Gumlu State School is a teaching-principal environment. The teaching-principal has both curriculum and management duties.

Learning priorities for this year are development of a learning culture, reading and spelling, integration of technology into learning environments, and an improved concept of self-health. Staff development priorities for this year include achievement of qualifications for teacher aides, improved technology skills, and engagement of new Mathematics Program.

Parents are an integral part of our school community. Parents are highly involved in the school setting, encouraged by an open-door policy that encourages participation in their child’s learning. Workshops are provided to scaffold parent understanding of contemporary teaching methods and learning. Parents are invited to assist with excursions and provide learning support in the classroom.
